Service Learning

At Jordan Lake School of the Arts, our students participate actively in the community.

We find purpose and satisfaction in being of service in the everyday responsibilities of our school community, and to our larger community as well. Through being of service children learn they have the power to positively impact others and contribute to society.  Some ways we serve our community are by daily care for our residential cats, training of our therapy dog, daily cleaning and organizing tasks, and also weekly lakeside litter removal, fundraising and donation collections for local animal shelters, and rescuing and fostering animals. We believe that being of service and offering care to animals, our environment, and to one another contributes to  the greater good as well as a sense of satisfaction in developing ourselves to continually be better people.

Jordan Lake Creative Center (JLCC) is the non-profit 501 (c)3 organization that provides individualized
skill building and vocational training programs to Jordan Lake School of the Arts (JLSA) alumni and eligible JLSA students.
Through JLCC, these individuals participate in activities such as learning marketable trades as an entry into the workforce,
gaining financial literacy and other life skills, and providing supported employment training – all with the purpose of
helping participants learn valuable workforce and life skills on their way to becoming more independent.
